Cristine Reyes says that the worsening rift between her and her sister, Ara Mina, is due to the latter’s unwillingness to accept her repeated attempts to apologize and her insistence on making a spectacle out of their feud.

“Mahirap humingi ng tawad sa isang taong ayaw makipagpatawaran (It’s difficult to ask for forgiveness from a person who doesn’t want to forgive you),” she was quoted as saying in an article on InterAksyon.com.

Cristine also said that she made several efforts to reconcile with Ara since their feud, but that they were all in vain.

“Matagal na ‘ko nagi-insist na magkabati kami, na pumunta sa house niya… Pero sa mga nangyayari ngayon, every move I make masama ako,” she said. “Hindi ako mag-move masama pa rin ako. So hindi ako makagalaw! So sana ‘wag siya mag-eexpect ng anything from me kasi parang lahat na lang ng ginagawa ko pinapadiyaryo (I’ve been insisting for a long time that we reconcile, and I would go to her house… But with what’s happening right now, it’s like I’m always the bad person, whatever move I make. If I don’t do anything, I would still look bad, so I can’t make move. So I hope she won’t expect anything from me because it seems like she publicizes everything I do!)!”

Despite this, Cristine still remains optimistic that she and her sister will be able to reconcile soon, and that she is hoping to be invited to Ara’s upcoming wedding to Bulacan, Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses this year.

“Willing talaga ako,” she said. “Kahit civil lang! Kahit di niya ako kaya sikmurain! Alam mo ‘yun masikmura,makita? Basta ok kami. Sana man lang pagbigyan niya (I’m absolutely willing. Even if we’re just civil, even if she can’t stand me. As long as we’re okay. I just hope she's willing to patch things up.).”
