Rayver Cruz and Cristine Reyes have finally admitted that they have broken up last year. However, both say that they remain good friends, and that there was no third party involved in their breakup.

“Oo [hiwalay na kami]. Ang maganda dito, okay kami dahil magkaibigan kami. Matagal na kaming naghiwalay, last year pa. We gave our best dito sa relationship namin. Ganun siguro talaga. Hindi naman halos lahat ng relationships nagwo-work 'di ba (Yes [we have broken up]. What’s nice is that we're okay because we’re friends. It's been a while since we broke up, since last year. We gave our relationship our best. Maybe that's really how it is. Not all relationships work out, right?)?” Rayver was quoted by ABS-CBNNews.com as saying in an interview aired on Sunday talk show The Buzz on January 13.

“Siguro kasi bata pa kami pareho. Gusto namin mag-focus sa work. Gusto namin mag-focus sa sarili namin. Walang third party (Maybe it’s because we’re both still young. We both want to focus on work. We want to focus on ourselves. There was no third party.),” said Cristine.

Rayver added that though they have discreetly broken up some time ago, he later decided to publicize their breakup because he didn’t want Cristine to be judged negatively by the public. “Sa huli kasi ang dami nang nakakahalata and AA (Reyes’ nickname) is being unfairly judged na naman. Nag-decide ako na dapat sabihin na natin (Many people began to notice and AA is being unfairly judged again, so I decided that we should tell the public.).”

He also stressed that Cristine will always hold a special place in his heart. “Para sa akin, hindi na iba sa buhay ko si AA. Parte na iyan ng buhay ko hanggang sa pagtagal (AA will always be a part of me. She’ll forever be a part of my life.).”

Cristine echoed Rayver’s sentiment, saying that she will always be there for him. “Siyempre nandito pa rin ako para sa kanya. Parte na rin po siya ng buhay ko and hindi ko ibabalewala ang pinagsamahan namin. Anytime, nandito lang po ako (Of course I’ll always be here for him. He has also been a part of my life and I’ll always treasure what we had. I’ll always be here, anytime.).”
