ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the Court of Appeals has upheld the Movie and Television Regulatory and Classification Board’s (MTRCB) one-month suspension of the now defunct TV5 show Willing Willie due to an episode that featured a young boy dancing suggestively on national television.

The MTRB had suspended Willing Willie after a six-year-old boy named Jan-Jan gyrated in an episode shown in March 2011. The board also placed the show on a per-episode permit basis due to the incident.

However, Revillame’s camp had questioned the MTRCB’s decision to suspend the show and had brought a petition to the higher court. Despite this, the show was still scrapped shortly after and was replaced by Will Time Big Time and Wowowillie.

In the end, the Court of Appeals’ Second Division maintained that the board was only performing its duty as Willing Willie violated Section 3 (c) of Presidential Decree 1986, which allows the board to disapprove of immoral or indecent broadcast content.

"What is clear is that respondent MTRCB validly and correctly performed its duty as enjoined by law in reviewing and assessing the subject content and thereafter, imposing the proper sanction when the content was found indecent, immoral or obscene," read the decision written by Associate Justice Manuel Barrios.

Though Willie had denied that the show intended to ridicule the Jan-Jan, the court still said that "the emotional pain on the part of the child and the insensitivity of the host and the audience in egging the boy on even as he was already in tears."
