It's no secret that Coleen Garcia and Billy Crawford had a rocky start back in 2014. Billy just came out of a long-term relationship with Nikki Gil when he dated Coleen, his then-co-host on It's Showtime. But despite the nasty rumors about them, Coleen and Billy’s three-year relationship remained rock solid.
On Coleen's recent guesting on Tonight With Boy Abunda, the Kapamilya actress got real about her initial doubts when she started dating Billy. She revealed it took her some time to say 'I love you' back—11 months to be exact. "When he said 'I love you,' it took me 11 months for me to say 'I love you, too.' So talagang pinag-isipan kong mabuti," she said.
She explained that the public's focus on their budding relationship affected her judgment.
"We were under so much scrutiny and I was like, 'I'm not going to give 100 percent'—and, I mean, if I do give myself, it's going to be 100 percent. But I'm not going to give 100 percent of myself to someone I'm really not sure about. At that point, you know, a lot of things were happening, a lot of things were being tossed here and there. So I just really had to take a moment to decide how I was really feeling."
But eventually, Coleen saw that Billy was an important figure in her life which led to her finally saying "I love you" back.
"When I realized, you know, whenever he was gone, like out of the country I just—oo, iba na. Iba na 'pag wala siya. And, you know, it was something I didn't want to feel."
