Indie film Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria picked up four awards, including those for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Music, and Best Picture. Meanwhile, Sheika, a film about a woman searching for herself in war-torn Mindanao, picked up three awards: Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Actress. Films Limbunan and Amigo snagged Best Sound and Best Production respectively, while Best Short Film went to Pam Miras’s Wag Kang Titingin and Best Documentary to Monster Jimenez’s Kano: An American and his Harem.
The big cheers for the night came for the major acting awards, one of which was taken home by Coco Martin for Gawad Urian Aktor ng Dekada. Scriptwriter Jose "Pete" Lacaba was also given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in such movies as Eskapo and Sister Stella L.
