Christian Bautista and fiancee Kat Ramnani encourage engaged couples to talk about their financial arrangements even before their wedding.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the couple revealed they have already discussed how to manage their finances months before their big day—November 17, 2018.
Christian said, "It's a big thing actually, financial arrangements. We would like to meet with a financial planner later on to discuss it. We're leaning towards getting separate accounts and one unified account."
Kat added that it's important for couples to talk about money matters early on to make sure they are on the same page, and to help them build a stable financial foundation for their future.
"We had a very candid discussion. It was a very hard discussion to have. We sat down and showed each other our net worth, and how much we have in each of our bank accounts, what our stocks look like, and it's a very humbling conversation to have, a very honest one and very necessary.
"And then there was a discussion as well about what's important to us, what information we wanted to share with each other and with our families who also may have access to certain things, and how we wanted to keep our income.
"So I appreciated that discussion. It's something for me that I was used to having, very new for Christian, but he rose up to the challenge, and we had that discussion and came up with a lot of parameters.
"But we also would like to seek further guidance to see if we made the right decisions from a financial adviser."
The bride-to-be underlined that "money is very important and critical in a relationship."
Kat continued, "Some people would fight over it.
"I think it's the number one cause of divorce. It's financial issues, so we really wanted to make sure it's squared away."
