Glee actor Chris Colfer found out he was leaving the show after the third season via Twitter, Reuters.com reports. Before reading about the news on July 14, Chris, who just snagged an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Kurt Hummel on the show, was unaware that he would not be returning for the TV musical's fourth season. "I didn't necessarily know that it was going to be our last season next year," he is quoted as saying. "I knew something like that was coming up eventually. I mean, we can't be there forever."On July 13, Glee creator Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter that Chris, Lea Michele (Rachel Berry), and Corey Monteith (Finn Hudson) would be "graduating" high school in the third season.
"You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year," he told The Hollywood Reporter, as quoted on Reuters.com.
Meanwhile, Lea Michele reacted to the news of her ouster on her Twitter account, @msleamichele: "We always knew we'd graduate in real time. It's all part of the plan, and it's all good! It's going to make Season 3 amazing!!! To Gleeks everywhere, you're in my heart now and forever. Love you all!!! This is just the beginning!!"
The actors' positive attitude upon hearing the news isn't something everyone can easily adopt when they know they are about to lose their jobs.
