R. A. 10175, more popularly known as the Cybercrime Law, was implemented on October 3. The controversial law, which originally only sought to prevent instances of pornography, online fraud, identity theft, and other Internet scams, will also penalize citizens for online libel. Anyone found guilty of any crime specified in the law will be slapped with a prison term of more than 14 years.

Some of the country’s biggest personalities have voiced out their opinion on the Cybercrime Law. Several celebrities, like Regine Velasquez and Sharon Cuneta, have explicitly thrown their support for it. But there's also a number of stars who are on the other side of the fence, like Anne Curtis, Bianca Gonzalez, and Solenn Heussaff, who are calling for the law to be revised.
