Miss Universe Philippines Catriona Gray has just been crowned Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, which starts a whole slew of international trips and projects—but during her post-pageant interview with Kalani Hilliker, the 24-year-old beauty queen shared the first thing she wanted to do after taking home the title:
“I just want to hug my parents. I just saw them in the back there...I just want to give them a big hug,” she explained. “And see my team and just say thank you, because I couldn’t have done this without so many different people.”
When asked about how she felt about her name being called again and again, Catriona said that everything was still sinking in. “It’s like you second-guess yourself—'Did they say Philippines?'—but when you hear the crowd of course, so many Filipinos are so passionate and they’re all here and to hear the roar of the crowd—'Oh, it’s me!'—It's just passed so fast. I can’t even wrap my mind around it.”
The newly-crowned Miss Universe also didn’t forget her supporters, to whom she offered her win.
“Sa lahat ng Pilipino and to all the fans, thanks so much for the love and support thus far. Mga kababayan, I’m so happy to give you the best Christmas gift ever.”
