Michael V. is one of this generation’s greatest performers. Being part of the longest-running comedy program Bubble Gang, he has earned the distinction of being a premiere artist through years of hard work and dedication. During the launch of I Am Bubble Gang: The Bubble Gang 20th Anniversary Commemorative Comedy Chronicles, he shared with us his recipe for keeping his passion for his work alive.

1. "Aim to be unique."
"Wala nang original ngayon," Bitoy started. "Art… is inspired by something or someone." And yet he and his team have continually produced sketches that never fail to tickle the funny bone of Bubble Gang’s viewers even after all these years. "Alam kong mahirap, pero if you have that drive na gawin ‘yun, gawin mo."

2. "Be punctual."
Filipino Time isn’t something that this creative genius abides by. "Isa sa mga kinaiinisan ng tao sa industriya ay ‘yung laging late." After all, punctuality shows respect for your craft and for your team.

3. "Be professional."
Being professional means being prepared. "You get there on time, pero hindi ka naman handa, kabuwibuwisitan ka rin." Keep on learning. Find out as much as you can about your job through research, and if you’re still in the dark…

4. "Ask questions."
There’s no shame in admitting that there are things that you don’t know. "Kung hindi mo masasagot by yourself or through Google, tanong mo sa nakakaalam." Asking people who have been in the industry you’re interested in for a long time questions can give you a better understanding of what your works entails.

5. "Love your career."
Focus is what has kept Bitoy going. "Being in show business, this is what I love to do," he explained. "Ayaw kong hatiin ang sarili ko into someone na nagma-manage ng restaurant or nag-nenetworking. Kasi gusto ko ng maging magaling sa field na ginagawa ko, kaya ibubuhos ko ang lahat ng oras ko, ang lahat ng energy ko sa pagiging comedian." Put your heart into your passion, and you won’t lose your way.
