Beyoncé treated fans to an extended look at her new project Lemonade on Sunday night.

The 34-year-old singer has been teasing the mysterious project for the past few months, but released a lengthy trailer on Sunday. However, Beyonce has yet to reveal exactly what Lemonade is - leading to fans speculating it could be a new album or music video.

The clip begins with the words "The past and the present merge to meet us here", before Beyonce's voice can be heard asking questions such as "What are you hiding?", "Why can’t you see me?" and "What am I doing, my love?"

Eerie music is interspersed with clips of the singer in various outfits, including a bright yellow dress as she takes a baseball bat to the video screen.

The main image of the trailer is a dreadlocked Beyonce wearing a fur jacket, slowly lifting up her head until she's fully upright by the end of the footage, which ends with the singer saying, "Pull me in, pull me in".

Fans were quick to comment on the project, with #Lemonade becoming a Twitter trend within minutes of the extended trailer's release. Some even said the dark nature of the trailer reminded them of hit TV show American Horror Story.

And they won't have long to wait to see exactly what Beyonce has in store for them as she also announced that whatever Lemonade is, it will be premiering on HBO next Saturday at 9pm.

The timing of the release means it will clash with the premiere of the new series of Game of Thrones, also due to air at 9pm on HBO on Saturday night.
