The cast of the ABS-CBN comedy show Banana Split found themselves in a dangerous situation when they experienced firsthand the 7.2 earthquake that rocked Bohol, Cebu, and other nearby provinces on October 15.

Angelica Panganiban, one of the show’s stars, recalls seeing a building of a beach resort crumble before her very eyes while on board the bus that was supposed to take the cast and crew to their hotel.

"Akala namin may umaalog 'nung bus. So nagtayuan kami," she was quoted as saying in an article on ABS-CBNNews.com. "Pagtayo ko, nakita ko nakakalas na 'yung gilid nung building (We thought someone was shaking the bus. So we started standing up, and I saw a building crumble.)."

However, their ordeal was not yet over as they now had to deal with a possible tsunami threat.

"Paglabas namin [ng bus], nagsigawan naman 'yung mga nasa tubig," Angelica said. "Umatras daw 'yung tubig, so nagtakbuhan kami papunta ng city hall (When we got off the bus, the people near the water started shouting. The water was retreating, so we started running toward the city hall.)."

"Noong nagtatakbuhan na 'yung mga tao… nagkakatulakan na, nakikita mo umiiyak na lahat ng mga tao (When the people started running… they were pushing each other, you can see that everyone was crying)," the actress recalled, describing it as the most frightening moment of the earthquake.

According to comedian Pooh, the Banana Split team had to travel three kilometers on foot before they were able to seek refuge at the Tagbiliran City Hall, whose façade was also destroyed during the quake.

“Hindi na matatanggal sa isip namin ang nangyari ngayong umaga.. Sana tumigil na nga ang mga aftershocks.. Ngayon alam ko na ang pakiramdam kapag akala mo magpapaalam ka na sa mundo (We'll never be able to forget what happened to us this morning... I hope the aftershocks would stop. Now I know how it feels when you feel like you're about to say goodbye to the world),” read the caption that accompanied Angelica’s Instagram photo of the city hall.
