Reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-bantamweight champion Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton made her kababayans proud once again as she defeated boxer Jessica Villafranca in their bout in Mexico on October 1, Saturday, Philippine time, GMANews.tv reports. Villafranca challenged Julaton for the WBO crown, but her efforts proved unsuccessful as Julaton won by unanimous decision after 10 rounds with scorecards of 98-91, 96-93, and 97-92. In the ninth round, Julaton even got a cut on her forehead after an accidental headbutt, but she kept on fighting and still emerged the winner. This is her second successful title defense and her 10th boxing win.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abi Valte sent Julaton a congratulatory message from Malacañang. "Congratulations for a very, very good fight," she said on dzRB radio.
