Comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas has confirmed that she and her husband, Jed Salang, have already split up less than a month after they tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Las Vegas. In an emotional interview on The Buzz on May 19, Ai-Ai described their relationship as a bad dream that became her reality.
“Meron siyang (Jed) isang friend dati… Siguro naawa siya sa akin o nakonsensiya, sinabi niya sa akin na may balak si Jed na… papatulan lang ako ni Jed and later on… iiwan na niya ako at may kakasamahin siyang iba (Jed had a friend who probably took pity on me and told me that Jed was planning to be with me and later on… he’ll leave me for someone else)," she was quoted by PEP.ph as telling host Boy Abunda, adding that she later learned that Jed had plans all along to go back to his ex-girlfriend.
When asked why she believed Jed’s friend, Ai-Ai explained that she was afraid of the pain she will go through if the rumors turn out to be true.
"Alam ko kasi, from the very beginning, ramdam ko naman 'yun. Kaya lang, natatakot ako. Natatakot ako sa totoo at kapag nalaman ko ang totoo, sobrang sakit (You know, I already felt it from the very beginning. But I was scared. I was scared of the truth and that if what the friend said turned out to be true, it will be very painful.)," she said.
"Kasi mahal ko si Jed,” she continued tearfully. “Akala ko siya na. Akala ko siya 'yun. Siyempre ako, 'di 'ba, alam mo naman na dream ko na magkaroon ng asawa? Akala ko siya yung bigay sa akin. Siyempre, tao lang naman ako na nagkakamali. Hindi ko alam na magiging ganoon ang buhay (I love Jed. I thought he was the one. Of course, you know that I’ve always dreamed of having a husband. I thought he was the one given to me. Of course, I’m only human, and I make mistakes. I didn’t know that my life with him would be like that.).”
She later revealed that her fights with Jed were always physical, and that they had a particularly violent spat on May 2, the day she left him. "Noong May 2, ang pinag-awayan talaga namin, gusto niya mag-monthsary kami sa casino. E, ayoko nang mag-casino siya, kasi hindi naman na healthy para sa kanya at hindi rin naman maganda para sa akin na nakikita ako sa casino. So, sinabi ko sa kanya. Doon na lang kami sa bahay o any hotel. Huwag lang doon na may casino. Nagalit siya at napunta na naman kami sa physical fight (On May 2, we fought because he wanted to spend our monthsary at a casino. But I don’t want him to go to a casino because it’s not healthy for him and it wouldn’t be good for me to be seen in a casino. So I explained that to him. I asked if we can just spend it at home or at any hotel, just not in a hotel with a casino. He got mad and we had a physical fight)," she explained.
"E, noong araw na 'yun, kasi parang feeling ko, 'yung time na hinila niya ako sa sahig at kinaladkad niya ako, parang feeling ko, hindi ko na ito kaya. Parang feeling ko, kabibigay ko pa lang ng dream niya. Ibinigay ko sa 'yo ang makakapagpaligaya sa 'yo. Binigyan ko siya ng kotse and noong araw na yun, kinaladkad mo ako sa sahig,” she said. "Parang pakiramdam ko, 'Ano pa ba ang magagawa mo sa akin habang lahat, naibigay ko na sa 'yo (But when he was dragging me across the floor that day, I felt that I couldn’t take it anymore. I just gave him his dream. I gave him something that made him happy. I gave him a car that day, and he dragged me across the floor. I thought, ‘What else can you do to me when I’ve already given you everything?’)?'"
When asked if she thinks that Jed still loves her, Ai-Ai broke down, saying, "Sa lahat ng nalaman ko, tingin ko, hindi. Kahit kailan hindi (With everything I have known, I don’t think so. I think he never did.)."
Ai-Ai then revealed that she is planning to file for divorce and that her lawyer will handle the legalities.
