The ABS-CBN Ball (formerly the Star Magic Ball) is arguably one of the biggest and most-anticipated events in local showbiz. Now on its second year, ABS-CBN announced on its social platforms that the ball will be held in less than a month on September 14, 2019.
Last year's ball launched a campaign that aimed to help reopen the Bantay Bata 163 Children's Village in Norzagaray, Bulacan. In an interview with an ABS-CBN source, "this year's efforts will continue what it started last year-to bring hope to underprivileged children, but this time, through the Bantay Bata 163 Bantay Edukasyon program."
The program will cover the children's needs to have a normal education, "from complete tuition assistance to meal and transportation allowances."
Our source also revealed another important change in the ball: this year's theme! While it's been traditional for the ball to have a strict black and white dress code, the 2019 ABS-CBN Ball will have a Filipiniana theme. This theme coincides with the celebration of 65 years of ABS-CBN.
While we cannot wait to see our favorite Kapamilya stars in classic ternos and barongs, some artists have already started getting ready for the ball! Kathryn Bernardo, who's fresh from the success of her box-office hit Hello, Love, Goodbye, visited Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco at his Dubai HQ for her ball gown fitting! We wonder what they'll surprise us with this time around!
