Brapanese hunk Daniel Matsunaga enters 2011 on a high note with his career as a model, actor, and endorser really taking off. Back in 2010, he starred in two successful soap operas (The Last Prince and Langit sa Piling Mo) and was part of Cosmopolitan Philippines’ 2010 Bachelor Bash. To top it all off, his relationship with Heart Evangelista is still going strong. For Daniel, life has never been sweeter. PEP.ph sat down with Daniel to ask him about how his life has changed since he came to the Philippines. In this simple heart-to-heart conversation, PEP.ph was able to uncover some interesting things about the Brapanese model. Read on to see what five lessons you can learn from Daniel Matsunaga.
1. STAY HUMBLE.
It’s hard to be modest when you’re at the top of your game, but Daniel manages to stay level-headed despite the success he’s experiencing today. Maffy, his talent handler at Mercator Model Management, shares that Daniel’s personality is still the same as it was when he first came to the country in September 2009. “Ang maganda sa kanya, hindi pa siya showbiz (What’s wonderful about him is that he hasn’t adopted a showbiz attitude),” he tells PEP.ph. “He's very simple and humble.”
2. TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY.
Daniel loves his family, and he considers bringing them to the Philippines for his sister’s wedding as one of his major accomplishments. His deep concern for them stems from their unwavering support of his endeavors, be it his studies or his work. “For sure, if I can, I will do everything for them too, you know?” he shares.
3. SAVE UP.
It pays to be frugal, so practice living within your means and cutting down on unnecessary expenses. If you’re saving up or paying for something, use your money for that and avoid incurring any additional expenses. Daniel’s one big purchase last year was a car he’s paying for in installments, so he spends the rest of his money wisely.
4. TAKE A CHANCE.
Playing it safe is never a bad idea, but keep your eyes open for opportunities that may otherwise pass you by. Daniel, for example, was already enjoying a successful modeling career in Hong Kong before he came to the Philippines. Yet he nevertheless embraced the challenge of a new life and career in the Philippines. The decision proved to be fruitful as he has found both love and success in the country.
5. BE GRATEFUL.
Always remember where you came from and be thankful for what you have. The PEP team shares that while they walked around Greenbelt, Makati, Daniel was gracious to fans, signing autographs and taking pictures with them without complaint. He also knows all his endorsements and modeling gigs and recalls them with fondness and gratitude.
