Show business has a way of toughening up even the most delicate of girls. The industry is demanding, the competition is cutthroat, and simply being a pretty face just won’t do if you want to be on top. Take it from Maja Salvador, who can firmly claim that she’s both an award-winning actress and one of the country’s most talented dancers. This girl knows what she’s made of, and she’s not afraid to show the world what she’s got.

Luckily for the rest of us non-showbiz folks, we don’t have to spend a decade under the klieg lights to attain Maja’s carpe diem outlook on life. We were able to chat with the lovely star during her cover shoot for Women’s Health’s June 2013 issue, and she gamely shared her confidence-boosting secrets with us. Read on to find out what they are!

1. BELIEVE IN THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK YOU GET.
Maniwala ka sa mga positive na sinasabi, mga positive opinions and comments na sinasabi sa 'yo ng mga supporters mo. Kasi 'yun' yung magbibigay sa 'yo ng confidence para magawa mo 'yung mga tamang magawa mo buong araw (Accept positive feedback from your supporters. These will give you the confidence to accomplish what you need to do throughout the day.).”

2. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
Magtiwala ka sa sarili mo din, kasi hindi mo magagawa 'yun pag hindi ka nagtitiwala sa sarili mo (Believe in yourself because you can’t do anything if you don’t trust yourself.).”

3. LET YOUR WORK INSPIRE YOU.
Kung ano man 'yung trabaho mo, kung sino man 'yung tao na nasa paligid mo, parang kumuha ka ng energy sa kanila. Yung magandang energy 'yung kunin mo. After 'nun, whole day na, sunod-sunod (Get your energy from your job and from the people around you. Get positive energy from them. After that, you’ll be inspired for the whole day.).”

4. EAT RIGHT.
Kumain ka ng tama, at 'yun, lalabas ang confidence (Eat right, and your confidence will emerge.).”

5. BE OPTIMISTIC.
Lagi kong sinasabi, maging positive ka at happy ka (Like I always say, be positive and happy.).”
