Justin Timberlake was the big winner of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards held in Brooklyn, New York on August 25. CBS reports that he brought home three Moonmen trophies for his songs “Suit and Tie” (Best Direction) and “Mirrors” (Best Editing and Video of the Year). Justin also received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, a special honor to commemorate his accomplishments in the industry.

But the highlight of the show would be the much-awaited reunion of his former band ‘N sync, which took place as Justin was ending the medley of hits he performed before accepting the special award. Reuters.com reports that the band’s other members, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, and JC Chasez, joined Justin onstage and sang their hits “Girlfriend” and “Bye Bye Bye.”

“I don't deserve this award,” the 32-year-old star said, noting that he won half of his MTV VMAs when he was still with ‘N Sync, and that he will share the special honor with the rest of his band mates.



The band’s highly anticipated reunion was almost overshadowed by teen star Miley Cyrus’s racy performance. The former Disney star sang her hit “We Can’t Stop” while clad in a skimpy leotard, which she later removed to reveal a nude lingerie set for her “Blurred Lines” duet with Robin Thicke.

Pop sweetheart Taylor Swift, whose split with One Direction’s Harry Styles made the headlines early this year, also set tongues wagging when she expressed her gratitude for the inspiration behind her song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” which won Best Female Video.

“I also want to thank the person who inspired this song, he knows exactly who he is, because now I’ve got one of these,” she said while cradling her award. She was also allegedly caught swearing when One Direction was called onstage during the program.
