All eyes were on Filipina bet Shamcey Supsup as she entered the top 5 and took one step closer to the crown in the Miss Universe pageant this year. Shamcey, who placed fourth when the night's results were finally announced, regaled the world with her easy charm and grace throughout the night and even got voted fan favorite online with a final score of 7.5.For the question-and-answer portion, judge Vivica Fox asked her, "Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love?"
"I would not change my religion because I love my God who created me," Shamcey is quoted as saying on PEP.ph. "And if that person truly loves me, [he] should love my God too."
While the crown went to Miss Angola, Leila Lopes, love from Shamcey's fellow Filipinos poured in via social media sites. On Twitter, last year's Miss Universe 4th runner-up, Venus Raj, sent Shamcey her congratulations: "Congratulations Shamcey!!!!! We are very proud of you :) #3rd runner up :)"
Meanwhile, Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman Tweeted, "Galing ng mga sagot nyo! But imagine answering that in front of millions of people and with time limit. Kaya bongga ka, Shamcey!"
