To the audience's delight, August 7, Saturday, spelled more than just the televised birthday celebration for Mariel Rodriguez on ABS-CBN's showbiz talkshow Entertainment Live! Boyfriend Robin Padilla, a guest for the event and Mariel's co-host in the new game and variety show, Pilipinas, Win na Win!, made an impassioned speech for his birthday message to the celebrant, saying: "Gusto kong kunin ang mga kamay mo at magpakalayo-layo tayo. Sa mundo ng pelikula, napakahirap, napakahirap. Araw-araw may balakid, araw-araw may hindi mo maintindihan saan nanggagaling ang mga problema. Pero sana manatili kang diamond, lagi kang matibay.
"Ako, hindi ako nagsisinungaling. Totoo, sagutin mo ako o hindi, itago mo yung singsing. Ano mang mangyari, itago mo 'yan. Sa 'yo 'yan, hindi ako nagsinungaling sa 'yo, Mariel. Mahal kita."
Robin, once known as the "Bad Boy of Philippine Showbiz," was finally able to slip a diamond ring on his lady's finger—and what a ring! This one is reportedly worth P1.2 million.
