Sharon shares the joy of realizing her dream of launching her own home entertainment show and home entertaining line after 20 years. “Dream ko talaga ito. Sabi ko nga, wala pang nakakakilala kay Martha Stewart, nangongolekta na ako mga magazines niya,” she relates. “When I go to a department store, doon ako nakababad sa homeware, sa mga pangluto—not so much with furnitures pero yung talagang pang-kitchen.”
What makes Sharon’s line special is that she handpicked all the items herself. “Kasi I bake a lot, I cook a lot,” she relates. “Alam ko yung mga gusto ko, o ayaw ko, o yung mga kailangan ko sa kusina…Lahat yan, iniisa-isa ko, sinisipat kong mabuti yung mga samples. Hindi lang yung basta dinikit yung pangalan ko.”
This dedication to home sometimes makes her feel like she should be baking instead of taping for her shows. “Joke lang ‘yun siyempre,” she says, laughing. “But I don’t mean that. I really love everything about the home. It’s really not about the money. You have to do things that make you happy.”
Lately, these include doing her shows and teaching her husband Senator Francis Pangilinan to cook. “Pero, kasi ang galing-galing na niya mag-bake, mag-pasta, at iba pa. Marami pa kaming gustong i-try."
"Thankful ako not because of work," she says in parting, "but because for the work that I love.”
