After struggling with congestive heart failure and having been hospitalized for six weeks, legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor passed away on March 23, MSNBC.com reports. The actress was with her four children at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center when she died.“My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for Mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts,” her son, Michael Wilding, is quoted as saying in a statement.
In her lifetime, the violet-eyed actress has starred in more than 50 movies. She has won the Best Actress Award twice at the Oscars for her roles in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Butterfield 8. She has also been nominated for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Suddenly, Last Summer, and Raintree Country. Other notable films are National Velvet, The Taming of the Shrew, and Cleopatra, the last being the historical epic that brought her together with her on-again off-again husband, Richard Burton. Her stunning beauty, remarkable acting abilities, and colorful life catapulted her to fame and made her a household name.
