Football phenomenon David Beckham and his team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, might be in the country on December 3 to play against the Philippine Azkals, Interaksyon.com reports. Ace Bright, Azkals team coordinator, posted the news on his Twitter acccount on November 22. If it pushes through, the match will be held at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
Bonnie Ladrido, Philippine Football Federation Treasurer, writes in his blog that Tom Payne, president of Business Operations for the LA Galaxy, will be in Manila this week to examine the Rizal Stadium and finalize negotiations, reports The Philippine Star.
"The PFF and the men’s national team management will release a statement regarding the details of the exhibition match should the arrangements with Mr. Payne and the Galaxy be concluded successfully," he is quoted as saying.
The Philippines would be one of the LA Galaxy's stops for a planned Asian and Australian tour in December, reports Goal.com. Other countries possibly included in the lineup are Singapore and Indonesia.
Interaksyon.com adds that the Galaxy members also plan to hold a football clinic in Manila on the day of the match.
