International singing superstar Charice is hitting new highs with her career in Hollywood. Not only is she returning to Emmy Award-winning show Glee on April 20, but PEP.ph reports that she’s also snagged a role in a Hollywood film called Here Comes the Boom, which is set to be released in July 2012. She was spotted filming in Boston last weekend, according to an Examiner.com article cited by PEP.ph. The film stars Mexican actress Salma Hayek, who was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars for her role in the movie Frida (2002), as well as comedian Kevin James, who headlined I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) with Adam Sandler. The movie is directed by Frank Coraci of The Wedding Singer (1998) fame, and the story revolves around a music teacher (Kevin) who goes into mixed martial arts to help save the music program at his school.
Charice’s manager, Grace Mendoza, confirmed the news with PEP.ph, but did not reveal any details about the Filipina singer's role. At present, the International Movie Database lists her character’s name as Malia.
