Most experts agree that what you wear under your wedding dress is just as important as the gown itself. And we wholeheartedly back their claim—there's no way you'll feel relaxed and comfortable on your big day if you're constricted by your bra, especially if your boobs are threatening to pop out with every move you make.

And if you're buying a dress off the rack, avoid any kind of frustration while fitting dresses by wearing a bra that fits you to a T. Michelle Cordeiro Grant, who owns intimate apparel brand LIVELY, tells Brides.com, "Once you have that feeling [of wearing the right bra], everything else you layer will feel that much better. You'll be more confident trying on dresses and you won't be worried about adjusting or being uncomfortable!"

But really, whether you're snapping up an RTW gown or having one custom-made, it helps to pay attention to the layers beneath. You won't regret taking extra measures to find the perfect bra, and you definitely won't cringe when looking back on your wedding day. Here are pointers to keep in mind:

1. Find your actual size by getting fitted.

Says Michelle, "Many women assume their size hasn't changed in years, even throughout weight losses or gains. Find your perfect size, pick out a bra and jump around, sit down, and dance in it to make sure it's fully prepared for your big day!"

2. Make comfort your top priority.

Yes, that lacy little bralette would score extremely well with your new husband once you finally get alone time—but is it really enough to support your C cups? Remember: You're going to be wearing that bra for hours and you need it to be as comfy as possible!

"You're going to be sitting, eating, and dancing—having the time of your life!—in your bra and undies all day and night—make sure uncomfortable lace or the wrong underwire is not a part of that!" Michelle argues.

3. A built-in bra might seem practical, but it won't make for a pretty picture.

"While being sewn into your dress can be convenient, this alternative can often look unnatural," Michelle explains. "This option may not offer as much support as you need and when you hit the dance floor, the cups may move with the dress, instead of with you."
