Everything--from the first time they met in their freshman year in high school, to the second time they met three years after, to the nine-year long-distance relationship, to the punch line-worthy proposal, and finally, to their Up-inspired wedding, complete with a three-layer cake with a floating-balloon topper, makes Tina and Odin's story a high-flying, modern-day fairytale.

Love Story
Odin and Tina were high school classmates in their freshman year, when Tina left to transfer to another school the year after. Two years and the awkward geeky stage later (for Odin, at least), she came back; and as with classic high school rom-com movies, the "beauty" and the "geek" ended up together, spending most of their time underneath a mango tree.
In 2009, Odin invited Tina, her sister (who was celebrating her birthday that day), and their friends to Metrobar for Vice Ganda's birthday show. A few hours into the show, Tina realized that her pair of pants was stained, and requested Odin to take her home. He didn't mind her.
Then, to Tina's confusion, Vice Ganda requested for Odin to go onstage. He was around two minutes into his speech when she realized what was happening. Upon hearing about the stain situation, Vice Ganda graciously turned the situation into a punch line, and lent Tina his skirt. That's when Odin proposed--in front of over a thousand people, including some of their closest friends and family, Tina's stained pants and all.

Wedding Preparations
Both the wedding and the reception were held at The Mango Farm in Antipolo. "The design inspiration was the movie Up, being about going after a lovers' dream," Tina says. She shares they wanted the wedding colors and feel to be similar: "light, playful, fun, but full of charming, even profound, sentiments." This theme was translated into the décor by Vatel Manila for the ceremony, and by Macy Dy for K. by Cunanan at the reception. The couple danced to Norah Jones' version of The Nearness of You, a song reflective of their enduring relationship.
Friends and family contributed to the success of their wedding--for free. "We saved some bucks because we have talented friends...Two of them hosted the program, and my friends from the worship team sang," Tina says. Both the bridal and groom's cars were lent too. Even the wedding coordination was free, as this was handled by her "partner in crime," Wyanet Kay Flores, along with other close friends.
In planning a wedding, Tina shares this interesting tip: "Don't fear having "frienemies" together. Who knows, your wedding could be the avenue for reconciliation, but make sure guests are seated where they'd have the most fun."
Truly, Odin and Tina have stood the test of time and distance, the horror of high school, and the embarrassment of a proposal that almost didn't happen. They are now about to start a life of their own--and this will be their greatest adventure.
