Rona and Vince exchanged I do's with a berries-themed wedding. The couple paid homage to traditional practices, but they also incorporated contemporary twists into their special day. With this, the couple's union turned out to be a fun-filled personal affair.

Love Story
Rona and Vince met at the University of Asia and Pacific, where a common friend introduced them to one another. At that time, they were in relationships with other parties. "We started hanging out with other friends and got to know each other better along the way. It wasn't a love at first sight thing, [it was] more like a relationship that developed," shares the bride.
The two eventually became a couple. Later on, Rona took a masters degree in Chicago, and so the couple pursued a long distance relationship. When she came back home in 2009 for the Christmas break, she got a pleasant surprise from Vince. "As I was walking down the ramp towards the arrivals section, he held up a placard which read: ‘Will you marry me?'" the bride fondly recalls. After calming her shocked self, Rona willingly gave her hand to Vince, who slipped the precious engagement ring on her finger.

Wedding Preparations
Rona and Vince's wedding exhibited classic and modern ideas. She and the groom made sure that the whole affair would be as personal as possible for everyone. "We are both so family oriented, so traditions were present especially in the ceremony. [However,] for the reception, we just wanted everyone to have fun," shares the bride.
At the reception, the couple surprised their guests with a dance medley, in which the bride's father and their whole entourage participated. After their entertaining performance, the couple was then serenaded with a surprise celebrity guest, Bamboo Mañalac, who sang Rivermaya's If. "We [initially] wanted him to sing the song for the bridal march which was originally sung by him, but the church did not allow us. As a surprise, my parents got him to sing [the song] for the reception instead!" shares the bride.
The bride was hands-on with planning the wedding, but she also involved her entourage with the preparations. "I made sure our entourage played a real part in the wedding [and that they won't] just walk down the aisle on the day of the wedding," she says. By fusing together traditions and modern twists, the couple was still able to make their 700-guest event feel warm.
The couple shares a valuable piece of advice for couples planning a wedding: "Just enjoy the ride! It's normal to have misunderstandings and frustrations, but at the end of the day, you have to remember that a wedding is just a day. A marriage will be for a lifetime, so don't sweat the small stuff! There's so much more after the wedding."
