Love Story
Raetz and Jay met in April 2010 through a common friend. Jay had just arrived from the United States, and decided to come back home to the Philippines for his mother, who was sick. At that time, he was single, and was thinking that he’d find back in his homeland the person he would spend the rest of his life with.
Raetz, on the other hand, had just come from a tumultuous relationship. A common friend, Ma-an, thought it would be nice for the two of them to go out, and both agreed to do so. They had their first date at Barcino in Burgos Circle at Fort Bornifacio, and they instantly clicked. "[We talked], listened, laughed, ate tapas and drank wine and bourbon for over four hours," shares the couple.
Things went amazingly well, and four months later, Raetz and Jay found themselves on a vacation in Boracay. At a romantic lunch by the beach, Jay popped the question with a diamond ring in his hand--and Raetz, of course, said yes.

The popular wedding phrase "Eat, drink, and be married" pretty much summed up Raetz and Jay's union in January. With gunmetal gray, crimson, and plum as their motif, the couple was able to make their special day a classic affair with chic details, good food, great company, and an upbeat vibe.
Raetz and Jay’s wedding featured many sophisticated details. A custom-made monogram was incorporated in the invites, misalettes, place cards, menus, and thank you notes. Place cards for the reception were held by cork stands engraved with "Eat, Drink, and Be Married," and the couple's special monogram. The reception tables were also noteworthy with the charmingly elegant and whimsical floral arrangements made by Teddy Manuel. "[The details] tied in well with the souvenirs, the mini wines, and the overall theme of the wedding. [W]ine was also free flowing from the cocktails until the end of the reception," the bride shares.

Raetz and Jay shares their insights with couples planning their wedding: "In these modern times, the wedding day is as much the groom's as it is the bride's. Grooms should take an active role in the preparations. As individuals, know your strengths and limitations, and do your part according to your strengths. [Also], try to have a sense of humor and enjoy the preparations."
