Prior to their engagement, Nica and Kayo had always envisioned their wedding to be an event they would organize themselves. The celebration of the young couple's love was indeed an intimate affair that was fun for the couple and their guests. LOVE STORY
Nica and Kayo had been in each other's life for a long time--they'd been friends since they were 12 years old. They always had a special bond, but their friends realized this even before the two did. It was only when Nica and Kayo were in their early twenties that they started to realize their affection for each other.
After dating for a year and a half, Kayo proposed to Nica, who did not expect to be engaged so soon since Kayo's brother just got engaged the previous week. But Kayo always had his plans, and set to ask for Nica's hand in marriage. He proposed to Nica during a bookstore visit after their dinner date--and asked her in front of everyone. "I was so surprised. I absent-mindedly exclaimed, "I do!" Later on, after he had put the ring on my finger, I realized what I had said and felt really silly. Yes, you were supposed to say 'Yes!' But it really didn't matter. We were both very happy!"
Nica and Kayo, both avid readers, had since then attributed bookstores with something more special than their love for books. Despite the bride's initial shock during the proposal, her premature "I do" was well meant. "I really believe marrying Kayo was the best decision I ever made," the bride shares.

WEDDING PREPARATIONS
Artsy couple Nica and Kayo knew from the get-go that they wanted their day to be fun, exciting and completely their own. It was easy for the graphic designer bride and her freelance art director groom to envision a wedding that reflected their tastes: an affair of summer colors and vintage undertones.
The couple took on various DIY projects. They designed the invitations, and the groom himself designed the table numbers, menu cards, escort cards and venue maps to match the wedding invites. The groom also put together a slideshow for the party--a collection of the couple's photos over the years were flashed on screens around the venue throughout the night.
Apart from overseeing the entire wedding coordination, the bride also designed the flower girls' and ring bearer's attire, and the packaging for the guests' souvenirs. Most of the tasks--from booking suppliers, event styling and reception decorations--were done by the two. Friends and family also took great part in the wedding preparations: handling venue decorations, preparing the bride's accessories, setting up a photobooth during the reception, providing the bridal car and aptly decorating it with a precious "Just Married" sign.
For Nica and Kayo's event, the invited guests didn't just show up on the wedding day. The effort in which everyone pitched in made for an affair that everyone could anticipate and fully participate in.
