Love Story
Mharjj and Owen met in 2005 when they were both working in the same auditing firm. The two didn't really talk to each other, until they had a training program where they got re-acquainted. "[We had] one activity where you write your dreams and goals on a paper, and another [member of the group] reads it and writes down their comment. I wrote that I wanted to settle abroad and work. He had the chance to read my paper, and when he gave it back to me, [he wrote] that he wishes me luck, and hopes [that] he gets to go wherever I will be," shares Mharjj.
Because of that connection, Mharjj and Owen began to find out that they share a lot of similarities--one of which was the way they perceived love. They both agreed that it was about being in love with the same person over and over again, and in the the same way, it was also about being willing to make another person feel loved over and over again. And slowly, but surely, the two developed a deeper relationship, and they eventually became a couple.
Four and half years into the relationship, Owen took Mharjj to the annual Hot Air Balloon Fest in Clark Pampanga. While waiting for the hot air balloons to rise, Owen mustered the courage to get down on one knee and pop the question. Mharjj, of course, replied with a sweet ‘Yes!'

Mharjj and Owen tied the knot with a fun and quirky wedding. Their black and yellow affair was marked with warm DIY details and an upbeat ambiance, which made the festivities a delight to the couple and their guests. "All we wanted was for us and our guests to have a wonderful time. We didn't fuss about everything. We [were] practical so we didn't get a stylist, an elaborate cake, a classy limousine or even imported flowers," the bride shares. "We thought the church and venue themselves were grand, the cake [just] needed to be served and eaten, the limousine is [just] a transport vehicle, and the flowers will wither. Instead, we focused on the fun parts like the balloon drop, the dance, the games, and the booze!" she adds.
In keeping with their practical approach to planning, the couple chose grand venues that didn't need much styling. The couple also made sure that the décor and other accents--such as their propeller place cards and coned floral centerpieces--doubled as amusing souvenirs. The couple learned to be smart about their wedding needs, and Mharjj suggests that couples should learn how to scout for sulit supplier deals. She says that building a friendly relationship with the suppliers also helps. By doing these, she says, the couple saved on costs.
