Mae and Gold made their second civil wedding anniversary merrier by bringing their vows to the altar. With a pink and gold color motif, the couple's Cebu wedding shone with equal dozes of warmth and whimsy.

Love Story
Mae and Gold were both engineers for different branches of Globe Telecom. Mae was based in Cebu while Gold was in Panay, and the two would exchange work-related phone calls. They finally met in September 2007 at a company training in Cebu--that personal meeting opened doors for them.
The two started calling and text each other more often until they officially became a couple in January 2008. "We started in a long distance relationship. [We] took turns visiting each other every month, and [we] never failed to communicate daily," shares Mae. Later on, when their departments were reorganized, Mae requested to be relocated to Panay--and that closed the distance between Mae and Gold.
A month before their first anniversary, the two planned a vacation to Hong Kong. Prior to the trip, a colleague of the couple asked Mae if she and Gold would get married in Hong Kong. Amused with the question, Mae told Gold about it. But to her surprise, Gold replied: "That's a good idea. Why not?" Shares Mae, "I thought he was just really kidding until he showed me the engagement ring which he'd been keeping for four months already. He [originally] planned to propose to me in Hong Kong while watching the A Symphony of Lights." While their colleague's question preempted the proposal, the two were delighted at the turn of events.

Mae and Gold had already gotten married civilly, and on their second anniversary as a married couple, they made the celebration even more special by renewing their vows at the altar.
By inviting only 75 guests, the couple was able to keep their Cebu wedding intimate and personal. In honor of the groom's unique name and the bride's favorite color, the couple went for a chic gold and pink color motif, which blended well with dainty and whimsical details.
With a relatively small crowd to handle, the couple was also able to make their reception program cheery and laid-back. For the reception, the couple handpicked songs that held special meanings to them. For the couple's first dance, their favorite song When You Tell Me That You Love Me by Diana Ross was played. Moreover, to represent both their one-of-a-kind names, the songs My Sharona (Mae's second name is Sherona) and Gold were also played during the reception.
In order to bring together a balanced mix of warmth and fun to a wedding like theirs, the couple suggests marrying couples to plan the wedding months in advance. "Research on the Internet for ideas on your gown, wedding cake, church, and reception decorations, while keeping] in mind what kind of wedding you like. Prioritize what's important to you," shares Mae. In terms of keeping the guest list short, Mae says: "You don't have to invite everybody you know."
