Kari and Gilbert, who have been a couple for so many years, celebrated their wedding with a refreshing white, gray, and chartreuse color palette. The February affair was marked with chic set-up, warm DIY details, and remarkable special performances.

Love Story
Kari and Gilbert met through a common friend in 1999--back when they were both Senior high school students. Though they went to different schools, the two developed a friendship, which later on blossomed into romance.
When the two both entered college, they again went to different schools and pursued different careers. However, that didn't stop them from continuing with their flourishing relationship. Even after college, the Kari and Gilbert's plans complemented each other's. As Kari went to med school, Gilbert decided to pursue a master's degree.
"It was very much clear to Gilbert that he will be waiting for me for a long time," shares Kari. And 10 years later, Gilbert proved that the wait was indeed worth it as he asked for Kari's hand in marriage. "I did not have work that day, and thought that it was weird that Gilbert called me at lunchtime asking if I wanted to go to the mall. We went to Mall of Asia [and] ate merienda by the bay (really cheesy!). [A]nd there and then he just asked me to marry him," the bride fondly recalls.

Kari and Gilbert's February wedding channeled a refreshing and carefree vibe as it used a white, gray, and chartreuse color palette. "I envisioned the wedding to be very chic and upscale--something you can expect to see in Sex and the City. Our event stylist, Jo Claravall, named it right: 'Modern boutique hotel.' [It was] a modern take on Parisian architecture," says Kari.
Aside from having remarkable details that worked seamlessly together, the couple's wedding was also marked with personal touches that made it even warmer and more memorable. The couple's DIY projects allowed them to make their wedding unique. The bride's mom packaged each mug souvenir in nifty boxes, while the bride decorated the candles used for the ceremony. "I just bought plain white candles from the department store and bought lace, beads and other appliqués from a local fabric store," shares the bride.
The reception program also matched the inviting atmosphere of the décor. The kept guests amused by treating them to a night filled with band performances and special numbers from some of the couple's friends and family.
Kari shares that brides who wish to pull off a chic, cheery, and warm wedding such as theirs should remember three things: (1) "Always communicate [with your groom]. Find out what he wants. Give him a chance to participate in the planning"; (2) "Set priorities [and] set a budget"; and (3) "Enjoy planning. Don't stress, [and just] have fun."
