Love Story
Kaka and Randal met through a job interview--Randal was among the panelists that Kaka encountered as an applicant. "He already had a little crush on me then, but didn't do anything about it," spills Kaka.
A few months after Kaka got the job, she and Randal learned more about each other through the company outings. Their interaction was tricky at first, since Randal held a superior post and Kaka was used to calling him "Sir Randal"--but they eventually warmed up to each other. "It was funny how we wouldn't really tell anyone in the office that we were going out. Eventually after a couple of months of dating, we became an item and didn't bother to be discreet anymore. Everyone was happy for us," shares Kaka.
Randal's proposal was quite unusual. "For such a planner like Randal, it was very out of character for him to just pop the question like he did," Kaka shares. Randal initially planned to propose on their first anniversary, but the ring took more time to make than he expected. Their anniversary passed without any proposal--but on a typical weekend date, Randal decided to propose. "He said that he just felt that this was the right time to do it. It was so spontaneous that he hadn't asked my Dad's permission yet. But of course, I said yes," Kaka endearingly shares.

Kaka and Randal exchanged I do's with a chic and cheery wedding inspired by the broadway musical-turned-movie Mamma Mia!. In keeping with the theme, Kaka and Randal used blue as their motif and incorporated Greek-inspired details into their décor. The couple's invites inscribed with Phoenician-looking characters, and their quirky wedding cake topped with a Santorini scene reflected their vibrant theme. To channel the upbeat vibe of Mamma Mia!, the reception tables were dotted with miniature disco balls together with bundles of fresh blooms.
Aside from having pretty details and décor, Kaka and Randal's wedding was also note-worthy for its fun-filled program. The 400-guest celebration still felt intimate as the night was filled with a simple yet fun activities. The couple did away with some of the reception program staples, and just alloted more time for the guests to dance and enjoy the music of their chosen band, 3rd Avenue. A trip to Boracay was put up for grabs in one of the games. "It was such a happy event. Everyone was just smiling all the time!" the bride exclaims.
Because their wedding fell on a busy holiday month, Kaka suggests brides-to-be to expect a larger fallout rate in guests--even if the guests confirm their attendance. "Since there are so many events in December, more than 20% of our initial guest list didn't show up. A lot of people also were there for the church only, or dinner only, or after dinner only," the bride explains.
