Love Story
Joanne and Emerson met as college freshmen, as they were taking the same course at Lyceum of the Philippines, Manila. They would constantly hang out with each other, and became friends. Later on, their friendship took on a different turn as they became a couple on their second year in college.
Years into being a couple, Emerson decided to take their relationship to the next level, and chose quite and unexpected time to pop the question. It was a Saturday night, and the two had decided to watch an action movie on DVD at Joanne's parents' house. In the middle of the movie, Emerson suddenly blurted out, "Let's get married." Despite her surprise, Joanne regained her composure and agreed to Emerson's proposal.

Wedding Preparations
Joanne and Emerson had a simple affair attended by close family and friends. The intimate adults-only celebration featured fun elements, which added warmth to the party. The couple's chosen matte gold and chocolate brown motif also created an inviting atmosphere.
The bride took on special projects to personalize their wedding. Aside from doing her research on the various suppliers, Joanne also designed all the gowns, shoes, and hairpieces of her entourage. Moreover, she painstakingly prepared the souvenirs, which she wrapped in gold paper and tied with bows.
Joanne and Emerson also decided to streamline their wedding program so that guests would have more time to themselves. They incorporated special numbers in the lineup, among which was Emerson's serenade with the acoustic band.
The couple had a very practical view of planning their wedding, and they wouldn't have done it in another way. Joanne says, "I don't have any regrets--I'm happy with all the results of our planning. For me, we should not spend all our money on the wedding, because it's only one day and [you're] just starting your life as a couple. Why spend all your savings [on one day] when you have tomorrows to look forward to?" By staying true to what they valued as a couple, Joanne and Emerson made their big day their own.
