Manila's nippy weather in December allowed the couple to use a Winter in New York theme for their wedding. Jing and Mike's love for New York sprung from different reasons: Jing is a New Yorker at heart, while Mike's favorite film, When Harry Met Sally, features a pair of lovers' chance encounters at the Empire State building. The couple's love for the famed city gave them the perfect backdrop for the intimate event.

LOVE STORY
Mike and Jing met at work, when they were put under the same training class. The two became fast friends and started hanging out. Eventually Jing started to notice Mike's special attention towards her. She recalls specific instances when Mike went out of his way to please her--once, out of the blue, Mike compiled an audio CD of her favorite hip-hop and R&B music. Another time, he called her cute in front of all their friends despite his introversion. Mike would also go to work early so he could meet Jing at the parking lot to give Jing her favorite candy before they start with work. Sweet gestures like those eventually led to a romance.
Years after being a couple, Mike proposed to Jing in December 7, 2008, during a movie date.

WEDDING PREPARATIONS
Jing ensured that she and Mike had their theme and motif in mind before they booked their suppliers. "Buy a wedding organizer (a big notebook) and research, research, research," the bride shares. It is important to be consistent with a wedding's theme, and this is just what the bride pursued in her plans. With the help of Chinkie Uy-Agregado of Metro Eventscape Planners, the wedding's urban feel was achieved through details in purple and warm gray.
Reception décor with hints of magenta, lavender and blush pink brought color to the reception venue. The motif was also incorporated into the bride's DIY project: favor boxes with M&Ms. M&Ms in colors the couple chose themselves--purple, blush pink, platinum shimmer and lavender--came in gray boxes sealed with purple stitched-grosgrain ribbon.
Table names at the reception were named after different locations in New York such as Central Park, Times Square, Metropolitan Museum of Art and Park Avenue. To soften the reception's urban look, purple hydrangeas, million star and misty blue flowers decorated the venue.
The fusion of modern and classic elements in Jing and Mike's wedding details is a fitting representation of the melting pot city that inspired their wedding.
