Despite being out of the country for work, Gles and Karl were able to pull off a beautiful and memorable wedding. Their details were unfussy but still chic and stylish, and were the perfect picture of understated elegance.

Love Story
Gles and Karl met at a one-year internship program in the same hospital, and eventually became friends despite their different personalities. "He was the playboy," Gles says, "and I was the good girl. He used to tease me that he will be my first boyfriend, after he found out that I've never had one." True enough, they became a couple a year after their internship, and have been together ever since.
While most girls want nothing short of an elaborate production for a proposal, Gles shares that they didn't really have a traditional proposal. "It was just one ordinary Sunday morning, and we just started planning our wedding in a practical kind of way, the way you plan a wedding after the hype of a proposal subsided." After the longest conversation they've ever had about getting married, Karl suddenly said, "Sandali, hindi pa pala tayo pwede magplano. Hindi pa ko nagpo-propose." Gles just rolled her eyes and said, "Di na kailangan ‘yun." And so they continued to plan their wedding and their future together.

Wedding Preparations
The groom's sister coordinated with the suppliers as both Gles and Karl were working in Singapore. Trust played a huge role in their planning, as the couple had to have faith that their suppliers would deliver what is expected.
The couple entrusted the event's look to their stylists, and their suppliers from Vatel Manila and K. by Cunanan Catering decorated the ceremony and the reception, respectively. The couple celebrated their wedding at The Mango Farm in Antipolo.
The couple's wedding had several notable details. Following the midnight blue and silver motif, blue hydrangeas lined up the aisle for the ceremony. The entourage carried two-tone purple carnation pomanders as they walked down the aisle. The bride also carried a special bouquet of Picasso mini callas.
For their souvenirs, the couple went all out. They gave away silver-coated M&Ms in a glass jar. The catch: the candies had to be ordered directly from the factory in the States, and because the company doesn't ship outside the US, the couple had to pay for the special delivery. Despite having to go the extra mile for the favors, the bride shares, "It was really worth it."
In planning a wedding, Gles tells couples to prepare a scrapbook featuring all their wedding ideas. "It's easier to communicate to suppliers if you have this file," she advises. She also stresses that planning a wedding alone can be taxing and "it takes the fun out of getting married." She shares that with much help from her wedding planner, she and her groom were able to enjoy their special day.
