Love Story
Cristina and Oliver first met at a bathroom. "My cousin's boyfriend (now husband) and Oliver used to write music [together]. [They] asked me to sing a song they had written [and] had set up a mini recording studio in my cousin's bathroom," Cristina fondly shares. And the rest, Cristina says, is history.
Part of that history is when Oliver proposed to Cristina with the help of Metro Photo's master photographer, Oly Ruiz, who also happens to be Oliver's bestfriend. Cristina and Oliver had once helped Oly by acting as a model couple for Metro Photo's ads. But even before the mock photo shoot, Oliver admits that he had been intending to propose to Cristina--he just wanted it to be really memorable. "And I've always thought that getting engaged during an engagement session was the best way to do it," Oliver adds.
So after a year of plotting and planning, Oliver decided to take Cristina and Metro Photo to a suspension bridge in downtown San Diego. "I told Cristina that Oly wanted to do another photo shoot while he was in the US to promote his brand. A few days before the shoot, I finally got the ring and hid it. On the day of the shoot, Cristina was still clueless about was about to unfold, Oliver shares."
At the shoot, the couple did some warm-up poses, and then Oly asked Cristina turn her back towards Oliver. With the ring in hand, Oliver knelt down--and as Cristina turned around again, she realized that their engagement was finally made real.

Wedding Preparations
Cristina and Oliver's wedding had the perfect mix of a cheery beach vibe, and rustic yet elegant details. The couple exchanged I do's with an intimate ceremony at Medano Beach in Cabo, San Lucas, Mexico.
With the beach's powder white sand and pristine blue waters, the couple's ceremony turned out to be breathtaking as it was heartwarming. Come the reception, the cheery ambiance was made even warmer with vintage-inspired décor. Birdcages, mirrored table tops, candelabras, ivory roses, and Mexican hydrangeas dotted the scene.
The couple's and their entourage's outfits also exhibited the same chic vibe that their décor displayed. The bride was a vision in an exquisite Veluz gown, which had to be flown in to their destination. The bridesmaids wore dresses in a bold customized color called mango-tango. On the other hand, the groom and his groomsmen added a pop of color to their ensembles with their bright red ascot ties.
The couple further personalized their wedding by having a first song in place of a first dance. "Since we met [through making] music [together], we did a first song. We chose Homeward by The Sundays," the bride explains.
With a dreamy destination wedding such as theirs, Cristina advises couples who wish to pull off something similar to value the importance of research. "Research to find the best deals, whether it be [about] that flowers are in season, off-season deals for resorts, or even which months will offer the best weather for your wedding location."
