Love Story

Corinne and Marco crossed paths because of their common passion for the arts. They met through an arts group called My Masterpiece Movement, where they both taught and performed for the creativity classes. One time, they struck up a conversation about their favorite musician, Nick Drake. The two found out that they shared more than just their love for the arts--they also had eyes for each other.

The couple had been dating for two months when they realized that their common interests bound them together. They felt strongly about each other that they decided to take their relationship to the next level. Corinne shares, "[On] the second month we were dating, we just both knew we were destined to be with each other forever. As cheesy as it may sound, we both just knew we were soul mates."

Wedding Preparations

Both artists, Corinne and Marco tied the knot with an eclectic global folk art theme. The couple incorporated lots of home-spun details and DIY projects into their wedding to make their big day fun, warm, and laid-back.

The couple only had two months to plan their wedding, but that didn't stop them from having a one-of-a-kind affair. Corinne says, "It's so much fun to plan a wedding that's unique and personal. The bride and groom's values, personalities, tastes and quirkiness should shine throughout the ceremony and reception." Since the bride's and groom's mothers were both fans of global folk art, it was easy for them to find interesting things lying around their house to use as décor and accents for the wedding. "Getting your family and friends to contribute makes everything infinitely more special," shares Corinne.

Marco requested that he and Corinne exchange I do's in a place surrounded by trees--and so they tied the knot at the garden of the groom's residence. With the venue and the rest of the details taken care of, the couple only spent on food for their wedding. By keeping in mind what was important to them, Corinne and Marco did away with unnecessary costs. Corinne shares an idea for trimming the budget: "Spare your bridesmaids and groomsmen's outfits that end up as closet clutter. Don't buy anything that will just be used once and thrown away."
