Charmaine and Leo, both physical therapists, met at a hospital in Vigan. Leo used to work in that hospital, and when he visited his old workplace, he was introduced to Charmaine, who was new to the Physical Therapy and Rehab Department. The two became friends, and later on, Leo realized that Charmaine was the girl that he had long been praying for.
Charmaine was set to leave for the United States in September 2008, but for some reason, she decided to postpone her trip until February 2009. Leo took that as a sign from God, and so on his birthday in February 2009, a few days before Charmaine left, he asked Charmaine to be his girlfriend. She said yes.
Eight months later, Leo was given an opportunity to work in New York. Charmaine was based in North Carolina, and so they still didn’t see each other often. However, they constantly saved up for plane tickets, and on Charmaine’s birthday in August 2010, they two were able to see each other in New York. Leo had told Charmaine that they were to have dinner at a restaurant in Manhattan, but they really had reservations for a dinner cruise. Eight minutes before the ferry sailed, Charmaine and Leo were still stuck in traffic, and were five blocks away from the dock. In panic, Leo paid the driver, took off Charmaine's heeled shoes, and asked her to run with him. Their efforts paid off, as they got to the ferry 40 seconds before it left--and as the boat passed the Statue of Liberty, Leo got down on one knee and proposed to Charmaine.
Charmaine and Leo had a simple wedding, which they filled with details inspired by Tuscany. The couple's green and violet motif was taken from the colors of their birthstones, peridot and amethyst.
To bring their Tuscan wedding to reality, the couple incorporated a vineyard feel into various wedding details. Their décor, invitations, their entourage’s dresses and ties, and even their ceremony accessories all came in green and violet. Charmaine and Leo also gave out wine-shaped candles and small bottles of wine as parting gifts to their guests.
Charmaine and Leo were both abroad when they planned their wedding in the Philippines, and they turned to online resources to help them prepare for the big day. The bride shares, “For couples who are outside the Philippines but plan to have the wedding in the country, check BridalBook!”
