Truly, love can be celebrated anywhere. Instead of renting a garden venue or a fancy ballroom, for instance, couple Arjan and Khaye decided to hold a simple but heartwarming wedding reception by the street food stalls in UP Diliman.

According to the couple, the unique reception was actually conceptualized by accident. After visiting their church venue, UP Diliman's Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, Arjan and Khaye had an isaw date right across the street.
Khaye recounts: "Kumain kami, um-order, tapos nagkabiruan kami na, what if dito na lang kaya [yung reception natin]? Ganito na yung handa natin parang ang sarap-sarap, ang saya-saya."
On their big day, Arjan and Khaye served isaw, tokneneng, kikiam, and other Pinoy street food staples to their guests. The open-air venue was also perfect for the couple because they weren't comfortable with the idea of celebrating in an enclosed space amid the pandemic.
At the same time, the food vendors were also grateful to the couple for helping them earn during the pandemic. "Doon sa pagtitipid namin may natulungan din pala kaming iba," shares the bride.
