For wedding photographer Dominic Barrios, his work is truly a labor of love. Back in 2007, as a volunteer for Gawad Kalinga, he had asked God for a sense of direction. Thankfully, it came in the form of a basic DSLR camera. From then on, Dominic got hooked into the craft. He started studying online, took workshops at Intramuros, and considered pursuing photography as a profession. Eventually, things fell into place, and Dominic got into wedding photography.
Dominic confesses that his real purpose in shooting weddings is to tell people about how God, through photography, has worked to bless the couple on their special day. He says that by keeping this goal in mind, looking for beauty and immortalizing it in photos become so much easier.
Dominic doesn't just document special moments between couples, but instead tells a unique story with the photos. He recognizes that every set of clients deserve to get the best wedding memories. Even after the occasion, Dominic wants his work to strengthen the love between husband and wife every time they look at their wedding photos. He says, "Every shutter click is personal and done out of love." To be able to tell his clients' stories, Dominic makes it a point to connect with them through Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, and meetings.
Dominic's passion for his craft works seamlessly with his sense of wonder. He thrives in capturing emotions--his favorite part of the wedding is when the bride walks down the aisle because that's when all the emotions reach an all-time high, and the love from the guests, family, and entourage can be felt.
To prepare him for the task of capturing such powerful emotions, Dominic always takes care to check his equipment, charge his batteries, and make sure that the couple is relaxed. He also prays for the weather, the couple, and his equipment, but in the end, leaves everything to God.
Informed with love as his photography is, Dominic also hopes serve more couples in and out of the country, and eventually get into relationship counseling services. It's certain this is one photographer who will have many more love stories to tell.
