Charlene and Rennel's wedding was elegant without being lavish, just as the couple envisioned. They had custom-designed pieces for their entourage as well as do-it-yourself souvenirs, which gave the event a distinct touch.

Love Story
Family and friends played a key role in how Charlene and Rennel ended up together. The two first met at Rennel's family residence, when a close family friend who was board mates with Charlene invited her over for lunch.
After the lunch, Rennel asked for Charlene's number. Several weeks of texting one another eventually led to their first date. The relationship lasted for eight years before Rennel finally popped the question.
On one of Charlene's visits to the Philippines, she had the idea that she was about to be proposed to, so Rennel had to pretend that he had no such plans, even though he'd asked Charlene to have dinner with him at the scenic Le Tagola in Busay, Cebu.
When dessert arrived, Charlene's initial idea proved true. She was surprised to find an engagement ring on the cake, with Rennel's proposal written on the plate.

Wedding Preparations
Charlene and Rennel wanted their wedding to mirror their personalities, and so they decided to put their stamp on various wedding details. Aside from personalizing the favors they gave away to their guests, the couple also helped to design the lace on the gowns of the bridesmaids.
Both the families of Charlene and Rennel were also involved in the wedding preparations. For the reception, the newlyweds enjoyed a special performance by their family members, some of whom flew from overseas just to join them on their special day.
To achieve their dream wedding, the couple had to make mutual changes in their schedules, particularly since they wanted to hold the ceremony in Cagayan de Oro, but Rennel works in Cebu and Charlene is based in New York. While planning was challenging for them both, they managed to pull off a memorable affair. The preparations was truly a learning experience for Charlene and Rennel. They admit, "We never knew that getting hitched will require a lot documents that needs to be prepared. Some of it especially the license require personal appearances."
Charlene and Rennel share their advice for other couples "Give an allowance of a year or more if possible. We made more progress for the wedding when it was almost six months away."
