When it comes to narrowing down the wedding gown designer field for your wedding day, it's important for a bride to pick a designer who not only understands her vision, but also someone who can successfully express the bride's individuality through her wedding gown--and the woman behind Weddings by Kaye Morales does exactly that.

With a background in production design and interior design, designer Kaye Morales pursued further studies and honed her craft in fashion design in reputable institutions such as the School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA), and the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. In 2010, she launched two lines: Schizo, a ready-to-wear line where "urban street wear meets class, punk with sophistication and elegance with a wild streak," and Kaye Morales, a made-to-order line for formal occasions for both men and women. In both her pret-a-porter and bespoke wear, one could easily spot Kaye's avant garde style and evident use of geometric patterns and shapes in her creations.

Kaye describes a "Kaye Morales bride" as unconventional. "More of edgy," she says. From the headpiece that her bride wears, down to her gown, her bride doesn't mind being a stand-out, and her style is not just run-off-the-mill. A true individual, a Kaye Morales bride is sassy, and definitely makes a statement in her choice of wear.

While Kaye admits that her favorite look for brides is "rocker chic," Kaye does inject a touch of softness and femininity through the details of her designs. In her bridal gowns, Kaye shares that she treats her fabrics (e.g., dye) and usually focuses on pleating, ruching and beadwork. Her favorite fabrics for brides are duchess satin and Mikado silk.

In coming up with a design for the bride's big day, Kaye sees to it that the bride's personality shows, apart from the bride's design and color preferences. Kaye likes seeing pegs from her brides to allow her to visualize not only the bride's dream wedding, but also to have a feel of the bride and groom's character. Kaye tries to balance what the client wants, and what she wants to maintain as her design aesthetic. She advises brides to "Be careful with the colors you choose [to go along with your theme]," explaining that the attire and theme--along with the rest of the wedding details--should be cohesive in style.

To make a standout creation for both bride and groom, it usually takes a month from initial meeting to final fitting. Kaye can accommodate up to 20 to 30 clients a month. Apart from outfitting the bride and groom, she also accepts orders for the rest of the entourage. Should the bride prefer to have them, Kaye can also provide accessories--like headpieces--to go with the gowns. Moreover, Kaye intends to expand her brand to other places here and abroad, which would allow her to help more brides express their individuality through her wedding dresses.
