Engaged couples looking for the perfect photographer are sure to come across various styles of photography--just about everything from vintage, fashion, black-and-white treatment, and photojournalism. Couples who are searching for a vibrant, contemporary treatment can look to Really Awesome Weddings, also known as R.A.W. The team is known for effortlessly charming photos, but as R.A.W. photographer Puy Talde will tell you, behind the seemingly easily-made photographs is the effort to find the core of every couple.

Getting into professional photography came as a surprise for Puy. In 2007, he was sent on a business trip to the United Kingdom and, believing that it would be unlikely that he'd be given the same opportunity again, he bought an entry level digital single lens reflex camera. With it, he took amazing photos, documented his working trip, and fell in love with the craft. The rest, his portfolio of vivid wedding photography will tell you, is history.

Afterwards, Puy joined Redsheep Photography, headed by Guj Tungpalan. When Redsheep underwent a major rebranding some years back, Puy and wife Chie Talde decided to put up their own team under a name suggested by Guj. The name stuck, and while it's no question that branding isn't easy, Puy and Chie have managed to make it look effortless. A peek into their official website reveals their dedication to their aesthetic trademark. Puy says, "We try to keep [photos] light and airy, modern and elegant. You can still feel the people aspect and rawness of the photos."

But something more personal shines through photos by R.A.W. For Puy, it all stems from finding the essential of the subject. He says, "We prefer that we talk with our clients personally so we can get to know them better, observe their personalities, and share experiences with them. In that process, we trim down [elements until we find] the essential things the couple really wants." This is no easy feat during a wedding, when so many things happen and all at the same time. Puy shares, "If we feel that too many elements are being incorporated into the wedding, we let them think about the [details] again."

More than attending yearly workshops and scouring different fashion, interior design, and business magazines, Puy and Chie hone their craft by getting to know their clients and giving them some TLC. "Our clients can expect personal touch [from] our service." Puy also promises that there'll be no awkward emotions on the camera, as "We [keep couples] comfortable in front of the camera [and] just let [them] enjoy their day."

While putting clients at ease on one of the most memorable days of their lives may prove to be a challenge, envisioning the future of their business is not. Puy shares, "I wish for R.A.W. to flourish and to be positioned as a local supplier recognized in the international wedding scene." But more importantly, Puy aims to establish a warm connection with all their clients: "[We simply want] to be remembered by clients as [friends] who helped them document their special wedding day."
