On her special day, every bride wants only the most hardworking individuals to help her get ready. Professional makeup artist Jo Chan understands the value of hard work, but more importantly, she knows that it's a must-have for brides to have an effortlessly stunning look on their wedding day.

"A bride's beauty radiates from the glow of love and joy, but the day of the wedding can be an emotional and stressful time for a bride. It is the make up artists' duty to build her bride's personal confidence by enhancing her natural beauty and let her be her best. Makeup brings out that certain glow that seems to illuminate the skin, the sparkle that lends a twinkle to one's eyes," Jo shares.

Making a bride look and feel her most beautiful on her most special day may be an overwhelming task, but Jo--trained by Maquillage Professionel (Makeup For Ever) in Manila and Temptu Pro in California USA--conquers the challenge with aplomb. "I was lucky enough to undergo intensive good training from my mentors," Jo shares. Moreover, working with numerous celebrities, designers, and media personalities for TV and print has allowed her to hone her craft.

While Jo's work has been featured in many top magazines, she holds bridal makeup closest to her heart. "It is a privilege to work with brides because you become part of one of the most important moments in someone's life. Every bride's dream is to look the most stunning [on her wedding day] so I want to make sure that she looks as perfect as possible," she shares.

Jo goes about achieving this perfect look by constantly coordinating with her clients. She says, "[It's] important for me to know how they imagine themselves on their wedding day." To gain her brides' confidence, she keeps communications lines open. She also encourages meet-ups. "I assure my brides that their ideas and visions for their special day will be met," Jo furthers.

Consultations with her clients allow Jo to bring out the brides' personality, and Jo does that with her signature look that's fresh and natural. "I believe that make up is meant to highlight and accentuate the best features and not change the totality of the look. The natural makeup look for brides transcends time. Wedding photographs become our most treasured mementos, and it's not the time to start experimenting with high fashion looks which become dated after a few years." She also loves emphasizing the eyes, as she believes that those reveal character, and can express the bride's personality.

Content but not complacent, Jo continues to sharpen her skills. To keep abreast on makeup trends and techniques, she attends various seminars and workshops. She also collaborates with other professionals, reads beauty and fashion magazines, and experiments on different techniques. With all these things, Jo's passion and skill in her craft allows her to be an even better supplier to her brides.
