While couples take special pains to plan the perfect wedding down to the last detail, it is the candid moments that make the big day even more special. Capturing these unposed events in photos is a great way to immortalize the happy memories of a wedding--after all, the wedding pictures will be the couple's main reference when they want to look back on the day they tied the knot.

Photographer Bryan Yap is someone who enjoys taking such candid and unusual photos. With a style that is a cross between classic and modern portrait-journalism, Bryan is able to bring something new to the table. "I specialize in a more laid-back, relaxed approach in shooting portraits, and I love capturing candid moments a lot," he says. He breaks the stereotype of shooting stiff and overly posed shots at weddings, and this makes the shooting experience even more fun for the couple.

To be able to take candid shots at weddings, Bryan establishes rapport with his clients. Through calls and email exchanges even prior to the initial meeting, Bryan's clients become at ease with him, and in turn, Bryan is able to capture the unguarded yet beautiful moments during the wedding.

Bryan also takes time to notice things that other people might overlook. He says, "Every detail in a wedding always catches my attention when taking photos: from the petals of the flowers in a bouquet, the special glint in the couples' eyes, to the emotional moments of everyone present in the wedding. I never get tired of searching and looking for these details and more, even until the end of the event." He adds, "My source of inspiration is the thought that a wedding is a special event for family and friends gathered to celebrate a union of hearts and lives. As a photographer, it is the most opportune moment for me to capture those precious moments in numerous ways and angles."

Bryan started to venture seriously into wedding photography only this year, but he has been honing his skills for years by working with industry veterans like Wally Gonzales, Nelwin Uy, and Jeff & Lisa. He now has his own photography business, but Bryan strives to constantly master his craft by learning from photographers he admires. "I always love visiting photoblog sites of different wedding photographers all over the world--taking ideas, getting inspired and simply enjoying what others have experienced, captured, and shared online," he shares.

While Bryan's business is still young, the future looks promising with the constant stream of clients booking his services. It is no surprise that things are looking up for him, since he puts a premium on providing the best experience for every couple. "Wedding photography is a service industry and it's all about the couple, not about me. At the end of the day, I'd like the couple to remember my services fondly--that I've provided photos that are of high quality and have captured the essence of their personality, their love for each other, and the memories of their special day," he says.
