When it comes to your wedding reception, you want an organized and smooth-flowing program. Your reception shouldn't be too short to be forgotten nor too long to be dragging.To help you plan, here's a basic reception program flow for a four-hour reception. (You can allot one more hour for contingencies.)
1. COCKTAIL HOUR AND THE COUPLE'S ENTRANCE: 1 HOUR
The start of your reception is marked by welcoming guests in the reception venue. Your parents and family greet the guests through a receiving line. This is also the time when guests try to find their assigned seats. Allot an hour for this so there'll be ample time for your family to mingle with everyone, and for the guests to settle down. When guests are comfy in their seats, the reception's host announces your entrance to signal the start of the party.
2. PICTURE TAKING: 30 MINUTES
Your host of the program acknowledges your parents and distinguished guests. The host can then facilitate an orderly photo op for you and the guests. This should only take up around 30 minutes of the reception program, because it also serves as segue to the dinner. You don't want to keep those hungry tummies waiting, do you?
