Keeping wedding ceremonies just among close family and friends is a choice made by more and more couples these days. One of the challenges to small weddings, however, is finding a venue that is just the right size. Using big churches for small weddings can look awkward in the pictures, and the many empty pews can also take away from the feeling of an intimate wedding ceremony.If you're one of those hoping for an intimate wedding, here are a few places you can look into.
ST. PANCRATIUS CHAPEL, PACO PARK, MANILA
Maximum capacity: 150 pax
Located inside the historical Paco Park, St. Pancratius Chapel is a delightful surprise deep within the heart of Manila.
The chapel looks like a romantic, old Spanish-style structure with gardens all around and a big water fountain in front. The garden grounds and walls make a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos. The history of the place make for a great conversation, too; Paco Park used to be a cemetery where great names in history--such as the GomBurZa and Dr. Jose Rizal--were once interred. But don't worry; it's been converted purely into a national park since 1966.
NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GRACIA PARISH, MAKATI
Maximum capacity: 300 pax
If you don't want to go all the way to Manila, perhaps Makati is a more convenient option. Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish is an old Spanish-style church that is just the right size for a small wedding. The structure itself-- found in Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City--gives the feel of a Church that almost belongs in Intramuros.
In Makati, venue options for intimate wedding receptions abound in the central business district. Note however, that the surroundings can be quite busy.
