But with 365 days to choose from, this seemingly simple task could be much harder than people think. Below is a list of some considerations you must think of when choosing your wedding date.
Type and Theme of Wedding
The kind of wedding you want to have is an important consideration when choosing your wedding date. If you want a beach wedding or a garden wedding, it's better to have the sun shining brightly, so your best bet would be the summer months of March, April and May. If you have a winter or holiday theme in mind, then the Ber-months will probably suit you and your theme best.
Budget
Couples on a tight budget should veer away from dates that fall on worldwide occasions such as Christmas, Valentine's day, New Year's Day and Mother's Day because the price of flowers (which is a staple in weddings) tends to skyrocket on these dates. Sometimes, even venues charge more. Peak wedding months in the Philippines are December and January, and these months can be more costly, too. Plus suppliers are very busy during these months with countless weddings lined-up, so if you want the full attention of your suppliers, then it would be wiser to look for alternative dates.
Church Calendar
The Church Calendar is usually an untapped source of wedding date ideas, but looking at the liturgical calendar is a good idea, too. The wedding ceremony is probably the most important aspect of your wedding day, and if you want yours to be filled with joyous songs and lush floral arrangements, then you should know that a wedding date that falls on the Lenten season is a definite no-no. The season of Advent, on the other hand, can offer couples with churches already adorned with Christmas decorations and Christmas carols for communion and pictorial songs.
Availability of venue and non-negotiable suppliers
If either of you have your heart set on a particular church or reception venue or wedding supplier, then you should check their available dates before you decide on your wedding date. Note though that this is for couples who are flexible enough to change their wedding date when needed.
Superstitions & Traditions
For Chinese couples, they can consult the Chinese calendar for the list of auspicious wedding dates for the year. If you believe in superstitions, you might still want to take note of these auspicious dates even if you're not Chinese. Some even go for dates that look nice when written numerically such as 12.12.12 or 11.12.13.
Special Dates
Some couples need not stress themselves with choosing their wedding date. If you're a sentimental couple, then chances are, you could choose a date that's special to you. It could be your anniversary, the date of your first kiss or the date when you first met.
