Honeysuckle

It's great to start off the new year with much optimism, and one of 2011's colors inspires just that. The color professionals at Pantone have declared the Color of the Year for 2011: honeysuckle, a warm pink that's the perfect mix of a feminine yet bold spirit. According to Pantone's website, honeysuckle stands for vigor, confidence and courage--virtues that people need to rise above challenges.

Honeysuckle is all about energy, and you can combine it with a variety of colors to complement or contrast its vibe. Pairing honeysuckle with last year's color, turquoise, creates a great contrast. Mellow hues like camel and coral are great with honeysuckle for morning affairs, while shades of blue, gray and black look great for events in the evening.

Citrus Yellow

One of the world's largest paint companies, ICI Dulux, has hailed citrus yellow as this year's color. Another bright hue, citrus yellow evokes memories of warm summer mornings. Like honeysuckle, this shade of yellow is perfect for channeling a free spirit that is healthy and hopeful.

Citrus yellow is a bright color, and some bashful brides might find it too overpowering to use this color in all the details. For a trendy pairing, you can match this yellow with honeysuckle. Use citrus yellow with gray, black or blue to set a tough contrast.

Vintage Wine

While the first two colors are bright and cheery, the other color for 2011 is luxurious and sophisticated. Vintage wine, according to the color designers at Benjamin Moore, will also be huge this year. This violet hue with brown tones, as its name suggests, is the epitome of opulence.

Since vintage wine is a dark color, it might be too somber for a morning  event. Pairing it with a bright color like yellow green can make your wedding glam yet still cheery. A bright pink would also work well when paired with vintage wine. For evening affairs, gray, navy blue, or black with this violet is nothing short of stylish.
